the collections :: ireland
After a successful time with my wildlife & fly-fishing work, it was time for a change. I wanted to explore the realm and textures of antiquity, but was not satisfied with my homeland. I needed an older place where commercialism and development had not invaded the spirit of the country. I began to look abroad to the timeless lands and ancient architecture of Europe. Because of its lack of tourism, and an almost unspoiled landscape and way of life, I chose Ireland. This proved to be the most inspired work to that point in my career, and possibly even to now. This trip changed my work and me forever.The original collection opened in December of 1989 with 30 original pieces, and by the end of that day only two pieces remained. When the collection ended a year and a half later, over 60 pieces and four prints had been created. What remains is here. Lord willing, I hope to travel and paint to the corners of the earth, but my first love will always be Eíre.
Enjoy.
